Scott Pertel – President & CEO
Scott Pertel is the Founder and President of Cold Summit Development. Scott most recently was a Senior Managing Director and San Francisco Office Co-Head at HFF, L.P. (NYSE: HF), a real estate capital markets intermediary. Over the course of his career, Scott has focused his efforts within the cold storage industry, providing investment advisory, debt advisory and capital raising expertise for developers, owners, and operators of refrigerated warehouses throughout the United States. Scott will lead all aspects of the organization, from client relationships, community involvement, fundraising, and philanthropic efforts, to project delivery.
Alex Langerman – COO
Alex serves as COO of Cold Summit Development. Alex has built his career around the real estate and infrastructure space, approaching projects from multiple angles including development, operations and finance. Prior to Cold Summit, Alex was with PJ Solomon in its Infrastructure, Power & Renewables Investment Banking group where he executed M&A, project finance and capital raising transactions. Earlier, Alex was with Bechtel Corporation where he was based in the Middle East and developed, managed and constructed major industrial and infrastructure projects. At Cold Summit, Alex focuses on implementing systems, conducting financial analysis and interfacing with current and prospective clients. Alex holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
Ed Johnson – VP Finance & Asset Management
Ed has an extensive background in all things real estate finance. He handles all facets of underwriting, conducting due diligence, reporting, and systems implementation. Ed spent much of his career at Black Creek Diversified Property Fund, most recently consulting for Starwood, SunCap Property Group, CBRE, and Paceline Investors.
Mike Smith – VP of Construction Management
Mike serves as Vice President of Construction Management for Cold Summit Development. During his 24 year career, Mike has developed and built over 100 low temperature distribution facilities throughout the United States and Internationally. Mike’s responsibilities include executive supervision of General Contractors, project development and planning, risk mitigation, estimating, contractual negotiations, and quality assurance to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget. Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction Management from the University of Florida with an Executive Leadership degree from the Florida State School of Business. He is a certified General Contractor and is a 9-year Veteran of the United States Army.
